A circular pin made from a disc of wood, in support of Canada's Olympic athletes in 1976. The disc still has bark around the edge, and the wood grain is visible, sealed with a stain or varnish. The design on the front of the pin, stamped or painted in blue, includes a line drawing of a sailboat behind a vertical cartouche with a maple leaf above the Olympic rings, and with "CANADA" and "1976" on either side. There is a circular border around the design, with the word "KINGSTON" below. The back has "Support Canadian Athletes" and a maple leaf underneath stamped in black.
In 1976, Montreal hosted the Summer Olympic Games, the XXIst Olympiad. The events largely took place in Montreal, but some were held elsewhere; for example, Kingston was chosen as the location for the sailing events, which were held at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour between July 19th to 27th,1976.
